Uplands Estate was built in the1920s – 1930s, designed by the architect Herbert Collins who was strongly influenced by the garden city movement, responsible for the design of cities and suburbs such as Welwyn, Letchworth and Hampstead.
The estate is managed by the Uplands Estate Houseowners’ Association, (UEHA) whose officers and members are elected from the owners of the homes on the estate.
Their aim is to maintain the traditional character and appearance of the estate.
